Deadly Earthquake and Tsunami Warning Cause Panic in Philippines

A powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6 struck the southern Philippines, causing widespread panic and prompting a tsunami warning. One person was killed and several others injured as thousands of residents fled their homes and jammed roads to higher ground. The tsunami warning was later dropped, but subsequent earthquakes with magnitudes of 6.6 and 6.9 were recorded. Evacuation orders were issued in parts of Japan.
