Deadly Earthquake Strikes Nepal, Leaving Dozens Dead and Injured

At least 69 people have been killed and dozens injured after a magnitude 5.6 earthquake struck the Jajarkot district in western Nepal. The shallow quake, which occurred late on Friday night, caused brick houses to collapse and was felt as far away as Kathmandu and New Delhi. Rescue and relief operations are underway, but blocked roads and remote areas are hindering efforts. Nepal is prone to earthquakes due to its location on a major fault line, and in 2015, two earthquakes claimed the lives of around 9,000 people and caused widespread destruction.
