Nvidia Expands AI Footprint with $12.9B Hugging Face Buy

Nvidia announced a $12.9 billion deal to acquire Hugging Face, the open-source AI model library, as part of its aggressive AI-spending push. The acquisition, still subject to regulatory approval, is expected to close in early 2027. Hugging Face, valued at about $4.5 billion in 2023, will join Nvidia’s ecosystem to accelerate access to open AI tools and models and bolster Nvidia’s role as a major funder of AI infrastructure and data-center capacity.
