Impending Storm Threatens Florida and East Coast with Heavy Rain and Wind

A storm system developing in the Gulf of Mexico is expected to bring tropical storm-like conditions to Florida this weekend, including heavy rain, strong winds, localized flooding, and coastal concerns. Parts of Central Florida are under a level 2 out of 5 severe weather threat, with tornadoes being the biggest concern. The storms are expected to ramp up on Saturday evening and continue through Sunday morning. A high surf advisory and coastal flood warning are in effect, with significant coastal flooding and erosion expected. Life-threatening rip currents are also anticipated. The weather will return to normal at the beginning of next week as the storm system moves up the east coast of the U.S.
