Massachusetts Hit by Severe Storm, Leaving Thousands Without Power

A powerful wind and rain storm in Massachusetts knocked out power to over 150,000 customers, with the hardest-hit towns including Pepperell, Hopedale, Scituate, Mendon, Duxbury, Plympton, Millville, Newbury, Southbridge, Norwell, and Carver. The storm also caused hazards on the roads, including fallen trees and overhead traffic lights. Gusts reached between 40 mph to 60 mph, with a hurricane-force wind gust of 76 mph reported at Blue Hill Observatory. In New Hampshire, about 50,000 customers were also without power.
