Storm system threatens 30 million with hail, floods and damaging winds from Plains to Northeast
A broad storm system sweeping from the central Plains to the Great Lakes and Northeast will bring heavy rain, hail and damaging winds to more than 30 million people. About 13 million are under flood watches in several states, with 6 million at risk for straight‑line winds over 75 mph and possible tornadoes; 19 million face heat advisories with heat indices up to 108°F as the system moves east toward Friday, with reports of power outages in Kansas and dangerous flooding conditions already seen in Indiana.
