Northeast hit by snowstorm causing widespread power outages.

A major winter storm has caused power outages to more than 250,000 customers in the Northeast, with more snow expected. No deaths have been reported, but there have been more than 120 crashes and vehicles off the road due to whiteout conditions. In California, more than 230,000 homes and businesses were without power due to an "atmospheric river" causing flooding, and more than 800,000 people in the western U.S. were under flood warnings. The southern and southeastern U.S. were under freeze warnings, with northern Alabama expecting temperatures of 25 degrees Wednesday morning.
