Thanksgiving Travel Faces Disruption from Rain, Snow, and Winter Storms

A pre-Thanksgiving storm moving from the central to the eastern United States early this week could disrupt holiday travel with severe thunderstorms, gusty winds, heavy rain, and snow. The system may bring an enhanced risk of severe weather, including damaging winds, large hail, and tornadoes. Gov. Kathy Hochul of New York urged caution as "extreme winter weather" was expected to affect holiday travel plans across Western New York and the North Country. The Weather Service office in Upton, N.Y., said that while rain and wind were expected, snow was not in the forecast. High temperatures will remain below average in certain regions, but quiet and cooler weather is expected for Thanksgiving and the holiday weekend.
