Massive strike cripples transportation in Germany.

Germany experiences one of the largest strikes in decades as airports, bus and train stations come to a standstill due to a 24-hour strike called by the Verdi trade union and railway and transport union EVG. The strikes are a result of months of industrial action due to higher food and energy prices that have dented living standards. The unions are negotiating for higher wages to blunt the effects of inflation which reached 9.3% in February. Verdi is demanding a 10.5% wage increase, while EVG is asking for a 12% raise.
