Global Heat Waves: Evidence of Climate Change's Impact in July

A new study by World Weather Attribution has found that the intense heat waves experienced in the American Southwest, Southern Europe, and China this month are directly linked to climate change. The study concludes that these heat waves would have been virtually impossible without the increase in heat-trapping gases in the atmosphere. The research also reveals that the increase in heat-trapping gases has made the heat wave in China 50 times more likely. The study, which is the first to examine three simultaneous heat waves on three different continents, highlights the urgent need to address climate change to prevent even more frequent and severe heat waves in the future.
