Ceasefire hopes fade as Gaza fighting intensifies.

Israel and Islamic Jihad are considering a new ceasefire proposal submitted by Egypt on Friday night, which includes a humanitarian truce and the opening of crossings for medical supplies and aid. However, there are still no agreements on the new proposal, with Israelis considering whether to even re-enter talks on a cessation of hostilities. Islamic Jihad is also dissatisfied with the Egyptian proposal, which calls for a ceasefire without further commitments from Israel to drop its pursuit of the terror group’s leaders.
