Israeli forces clash with Palestinian militants in deadly West Bank firefight.

Four Palestinians were killed and at least 62 people were wounded in heavy clashes between gunmen and Israeli troops in the West Bank city of Jenin. Seven Israeli soldiers and Border Police officers were also injured in a roadside blast and gunfire. An Israeli helicopter gunship carried out airstrikes, the first in the West Bank in some two decades, in order to evacuate the wounded soldiers from the battle zone. Tensions between Israel and the Palestinians have been elevated for the past year, with the military carrying out near-nightly raids in the West Bank, amid a series of deadly Palestinian terror attacks.
