Israeli airstrikes on Gaza targeted "kingpin terrorists" from the Islamic Jihad group, killing at least 12 people, including three commanders and their family members. The IDF said the operation was in response to "incessant aggression" from the group. Islamic Jihad confirmed the deaths of its commanders and their families. The Al Shifa hospital in Gaza said those killed were members of four families plus one other individual. Gaza is one of the most densely packed places in the world, with almost two million people crammed into 140 square miles.
