Russian Missiles Strike Western Ukraine, Killing Eight-Year-Old Boy

Russia launched a missile attack on the western Ukrainian region of Ivano-Frankivsk, hitting areas near a military airfield and resulting in the death of an eight-year-old boy. One missile struck a family's home, causing injuries to several people. Air defenses successfully intercepted one of the missiles near Kyiv, but the rest hit near the airfield and caused damage to civilian infrastructure. The attack may have been aimed at Ukrainian pilots who were about to train on F-16 fighter jets. Fragments of the missiles also damaged a children's hospital and a house in Kyiv, but there were no casualties reported. The West has provided air defense systems to Ukraine, but other areas of the country remain vulnerable to Russian strikes.
