Russia's Prigozhin Claims Capture of Bakhmut Despite Ongoing Fighting in Ukraine

Russian mercenary chief Yevgeny Prigozhin claimed on Saturday that his Wagner fighters had captured Bakhmut, but Ukraine rejected the claim and said fighting was still ongoing. Bakhmut has been the focus of the longest and bloodiest battle of Russia's war in Ukraine, which is nearly at the end of its 15th month. Prigozhin taunted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and U.S. President Joe Biden, who were taking part in a Group of Seven summit in Japan on Saturday where the Ukraine war was front of mind for world leaders.
