Sudan conflict intensifies with air strikes and battles for key locations.

Air strikes hit the outskirts of Khartoum as fighting between Sudan's army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces enters its sixth week, leading to a collapse in law and order with looting. The conflict has displaced almost 1.1 million people internally and into neighboring countries, with almost 705 people killed and at least 5,287 injured. Talks sponsored by the United States and Saudi Arabia have not been fruitful, and both sides have accused each other of violating multiple ceasefire agreements. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) announced more than $100 million to Sudan and countries receiving fleeing Sudanese, including much-needed food and medical aid.
