Civilians in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, are caught in the crossfire as the army and rival paramilitary fight for territory, despite multiple ceasefire declarations. Hospitals have been looted and occupied, food aid has been plundered, and residents have reported steep price rises and shortages of basic goods. The conflict has killed hundreds, wounded thousands, and sent 100,000 refugees fleeing abroad. The UNHCR estimates an exodus of 860,000 people from Sudan and called on governments to look kindly on fleeing civilians.
