Tensions rise on Lebanon-Israel border before Hezbollah leader's speech

Hezbollah launched simultaneous attacks on 19 Israeli positions along the Lebanon-Israel border, prompting a retaliatory assault. The escalating tit-for-tat exchanges between the Israeli army and Hezbollah have raised concerns of a regional conflagration. Four people were killed and others wounded in Israeli bombardments, while Hezbollah announced the death of one of its fighters. The death toll in Lebanon since the Israel-Hamas war began has reached 71, with nine deaths on the Israeli side. Hezbollah also carried out a drone attack on an Israeli barracks. French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu warned against a war between Lebanon and Israel, emphasizing its potential escalatory effects on the region.
