The ongoing war in Ukraine: a battle of losses.

Ukraine has launched a counteroffensive against Russia's invasion, recapturing about 100 square kilometres of its territory. Russia claims that Ukraine is suffering "catastrophic" losses, but Ukrainian forces have made territorial gains in several areas. The counteroffensive is still in its early days, with Ukraine stepping up attacks along much of the 1,200km front. The conflict has transitioned to regular warfare, with Ukraine relearning to fight mechanised warfare after years of guerrilla tactics. The only region where Ukraine didn't launch an attack was Kherson, which was flooded after the Nova Kakhovska dam was destroyed on June 6.
