Hamas Demands End to Gaza Campaign for Prisoner Negotiations

Hamas has stated that there will be no discussions about releasing hostages until Israel stops its military campaign in Gaza. The Palestinian group wants a full cessation of aggression before addressing prisoners or exchange deals. Hamas continues to reject Israeli offers of a weeklong cease-fire in exchange for hostages, with about 129 hostages believed to still be held in Gaza. Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh is currently in Egypt for talks about a potential cease-fire and hostage release deal, with negotiations also focusing on aid delivery to Gaza. A breakthrough in the negotiations could be imminent, but Hamas wants a complete end to the Israeli war on Gaza.
