Minister's Son Sacrifices Life in Gaza's 'Just War'

Gal Eisenkot, the son of Israel's war cabinet minister and former IDF Chief Gadi Eisenkot, was killed in Gaza during a battle against Hamas. The 25-year-old reservist infantry fighter believed the war was just and that Hamas needed to be defeated. High-profile mourners, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Yitzhak Herzog, attended Eisenkot's funeral. His father expressed pride in Gal's special bond with his family and vowed to support those who sacrificed for the Israeli people. Gal was one of five Israeli soldiers killed in a 24-hour period of fighting in Gaza, while the Ministry of Health in Gaza reported that over 17,000 Palestinians, including 7,000 children, have been killed since the start of the conflict.
