It has been 10 years since the chemical attacks in eastern Ghouta, Syria, where over 1,100 people were killed and nearly 6,000 others suffered from suffocation and respiratory problems. The attacks, carried out by the Syrian regime, targeted several towns in the Ghouta countryside with a nerve agent. Witnesses and survivors gathered at a memorial in Idlib to demand accountability for the perpetrators and justice for the victims. The Syrian Network for Human Rights (SNHR) has documented a total of 222 chemical weapon attacks in Syria, with approximately 98% attributed to the Syrian regime. The SNHR called on the United Nations to impose sanctions on the Syrian government.
