Zelenskiy Angers Kremlin with Return of Azovstal Commanders from Turkey

At least eight civilians were killed in Russian artillery shelling in the eastern Ukrainian town of Lyman, as the conflict entered its 500th day. The Ukrainian military repelled assault attempts by Russian forces near Lyman and Russian forces also targeted the Ukrainian city of Kryviy Rih in an overnight drone attack. The United States is expected to provide its next military aid package to Ukraine, including controversial cluster munitions. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy thanked the US for the aid package and visited Snake Island, which was captured by Russian forces but later withdrawn from. Zelenskiy also met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to discuss security guarantees and a Ukrainian grain export deal with Russia. Erdogan urged Ukraine to enter peace talks with Russia and announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Turkey next month to discuss prisoner swaps.
