Exiled Russian Journalists Targeted: Suspected Poisonings Raise Alarms in Europe

German authorities have reopened an investigation into a suspected poisoning attempt after Russian dissident journalist Elena Kostyuchenko fell ill on a train to Berlin last year. Kostyuchenko, who was living in exile in Germany at the time, experienced strange-smelling sweat and cognitive difficulties during the journey. She subsequently suffered a long and mysterious illness, from which she has yet to fully recover. The initial investigation was closed in May due to lack of evidence but has now been reopened. Kostyuchenko's case adds to a growing list of dissident Russians targeted outside their country, including the poisoning of Sergei Skripal in the UK and the poisoning of Alexei Navalny in Russia.
