UK Identifies Russian Intelligence Service as Perpetrator of Cyberattacks on Politicians and Journalists

The campaign, which targeted the personal email accounts of hundreds of individuals, including high-profile politicians, has been attributed to officers working for FSB Centre 18. The UK has summoned the Russian ambassador to express its concerns and has added two individuals to its Cyber Sanctions list. The US and EU are expected to make supporting statements, and Microsoft has warned that the group continues to refine its tactics to evade detection.
