TL;DR

A Spanish F-18 on a NATO air-policing mission shot down a drone that illegally entered Romanian airspace near Galați from Moldova, with NATO saying the drone likely originated from Russia. Debris fell in an uninhabited area; this marks the fourth drone downed by NATO over Romania in 2026 amid continuing Russia-Ukraine hostilities.
