Nepal's Tomato Imports Help Alleviate Inflation, Says Indian Minister

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced that the Indian government is taking measures to address inflation, including importing tomatoes from Nepal and increasing the supply of subsidized tomatoes through cooperatives and the Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC). Sitharaman highlighted the government's efforts in transforming the economy and listed various services that have been improved. She also mentioned the success of UPI and the global interest in India's Digital Public Infrastructure. The government has procured tomatoes from different states and plans to hold a mega sale of tomatoes in the Delhi-NCR region at a subsidized rate of Rs 70/kg.
