"Russia Delivers First Uranium Shipment to Bangladesh's Nuclear Power Plant"

Bangladesh has received its first shipment of uranium from Russia for its Moscow-built Rooppur nuclear power plant. The plant, once completed, is expected to generate 2,400 megawatts of electricity, powering around 15 million households. The project is being funded by Russia with an $11.38 billion loan, to be repaid over two decades. The plant is set to become operational in July 2024, with the second unit following in July 2025. Bangladesh aims to reduce its reliance on natural gas and plans to source 40% of its electricity from renewable sources by 2041.
