Longyearbyen, the northernmost town on Earth, is warming faster than anywhere else on the planet due to climate change. The town is adapting to longer summers and shorter, warmer winters, but the changing weather is making life more dangerous. Dwindling sea ice is threatening polar bears' existence and pushing them further north to find suitable hunting grounds. The town's coal-powered industry is also contributing to global emissions, threatening its future. Tourism is now the big business, but the glaciers are melting at a record rate. Locals are attempting to balance tourist income with tourist impact while trying to limit the impact of the 130,000 or so annual visitors.
