"Discovering 400 New Species in Greater Mekong Region"

Almost 400 new species have been discovered in the Greater Mekong region, including 290 plants, 20 fishes, 24 amphibians, 46 reptiles, and one mammal. However, many of these species are already under threat of extinction due to habitat loss, deforestation, and illegal wildlife trade. WWF is urging governments to increase protection for these rare species and commit to halting and reversing nature loss.
