Quarter of a million Somalis displaced by devastating floods.

Almost 250,000 people have been displaced due to floods caused by the Shabelle river in central Somalia, which submerged the town of Beledweyne. The floods come as the country faces its most severe drought in four decades. Aid agencies and scientists have warned that climate change is among the key factors accelerating humanitarian emergencies, while those impacted are some of the least responsible for CO2 emissions. The floods have affected more than 460,000 people nationwide and killed 22, according to the U.N. humanitarian office.
