EU extends Ukraine protection, but military-age men barred from scheme

EU countries extend temporary protection for Ukrainians until 4 March 2028, but exclude men aged 23–60 from the program; from March 2027 temporary protection will only be available to those who have fulfilled Ukraine’s military obligations. Exemptions exist for certain groups, and those already benefiting from temporary protection remain unaffected; new rules require proof of legal exit or exemption from military service for eligibility.
