Gaza's Health System on the Brink: Hospitals Struggle Amid Humanitarian Crisis

The World Health Organization (WHO) has described the situation in Gaza as a "humanitarian disaster zone" with the capacity of hospitals severely depleted. More than two-thirds of Gaza's hospitals and over 70% of primary healthcare facilities are out of commission. The Kamal Adwan Hospital has been forcefully evacuated, and the Al-Ahli Hospital is severely short-staffed, with doctors treating patients on the floor due to a lack of resources. A recent WHO-led convoy delivering medical supplies encountered serious incidents, including staff being detained and harassed. The lack of access to healthcare has led to a rise in diseases, including diarrhoea and respiratory infections. The WHO is calling for the protection of the health system and the restoration of primary healthcare services in Gaza.
