Greenlandic Women Seek Justice for Forced Contraceptive Practices

A group of 67 Greenlandic women, who claim they were fitted with contraceptive coils without their consent or knowledge by Danish doctors between 1966 and 1970, are planning to sue the Danish state. They are seeking compensation of 300,000 Danish kroner (£35,000) for the violation, which they say has had significant consequences on their lives. If the government does not comply, the women plan to take their case to court. The investigation into the historical contraceptive practices in Greenland is due to report in May 2025.
