UN Report Accuses Russia of War Crimes in Ukraine

A UN-backed report has found that Russia has committed war crimes and likely crimes against humanity during its yearlong invasion of Ukraine. The report documents indiscriminate bombings of areas with civilian populations, targeted attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, torture, unlawful confinement, summary executions, and rape. The report is likely to increase pressure for Russia to be held accountable by the International Criminal Court. The investigators also found a few instances of Ukrainians violating international law.
