Escalating Conflict in Gaza Forces Mass Exodus and Deepens Humanitarian Crisis

As Israeli troops continue to battle militants in Gaza, about 200,000 Palestinians have fled from the north to the south, worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region. Hospitals are struggling to function due to the lack of electricity and supplies, with only one hospital capable of receiving patients. The southern part of Gaza is also not safe, with frequent Israeli airstrikes causing overcrowded U.N.-run shelters, scarcity of basic necessities, and unsanitary conditions. The U.N. agency for Palestinian refugees may run out of fuel, halting aid operations, and the situation is exacerbated by the onset of cold weather. Both sides have accused each other of using hospitals for military purposes, while the Health Ministry proposed evacuating the largest hospital under the supervision of the Red Cross. The war has killed thousands of Palestinian civilians, displaced over 1.5 million people, and caused widespread destruction in the impoverished enclave.
