However, funding from key donor governments for Africa is dropping off, with many countries reducing aid in recent years. The US, the world's largest donor, can no longer be counted on to fill gaps, and funding gaps are expected to grow as Europe focuses on Ukraine, post-Brexit Britain turns inward, and some lawmakers in the US target budget cuts.
