US-Mexico border experiences calm as new migration rules come into effect.

The US has lifted pandemic-era immigration restrictions known as Title 42, and migrants are now adapting to new rules aimed at discouraging illegal crossings and offering new legal pathways for entering the country. Migrants are essentially barred from seeking asylum in the US if they did not first apply online or seek protection in the countries they traveled through. The Biden administration has promised legal pathways for up to 30,000 people a month from Haiti, Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to enter if they apply online with a financial sponsor and enter through an airport.
