CIA's New Video Recruitment Attempt in Russia Ridiculed by Moscow
TL;DR
The CIA has released a Russian-language video aimed at recruiting Russian intelligence employees as double agents, prompting a swift response from the Kremlin. The video features a fictional GRU officer expressing disillusionment with the Russian leadership and a desire to work with the CIA. Despite Kremlin criticism and the video being on a platform banned in Russia, the CIA reports increased outreach from Russians. This marks the third recruitment video targeting Russia since the invasion of Ukraine, with CIA Director William Burns citing disaffection over the war as an opportunity to recruit spies.
