Pollard also criticized the hanging of posters of the captives, claiming they were "poison darts." He suggested that the families were being used as a weapon against the Israeli government by the international community or leftists. Pollard, who provided top-secret information to Israel during his time as a Navy intelligence officer, was released in 2020 after three decades in prison.
