Israel Evacuates 200 Citizens and Jews from Conflict-Ridden Ethiopia

Israel has successfully evacuated around 200 citizens and local Jews from conflict zones in Ethiopia's Amhara region. The rescue operation involved the extraction of Israelis and Ethiopians eligible to immigrate from the cities of Gondar and Bahir Dar. The evacuees were brought to Addis Ababa, from where those immigrating to Israel will continue their journey. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the operation and pledged a warm welcome to the new immigrants. The rescue operation came after the Israeli government urged its citizens in Amhara to remain in secure locations. The violence in the region erupted following attempts by Ethiopia's federal government to disband Amhara regional forces after the end of the Tigray conflict.
