Nepal Cracks Down on Illegal Recruitment of Citizens for Russian Army

Ten people in Nepal have been arrested for charging unemployed young men $9,000 for "tourist visas" to Russia, which actually led to their recruitment into the Russian military. The exact number of men recruited and the method used remain unclear. Nepal's Foreign Ministry has called on Russia to stop recruiting Nepali citizens for the war in Ukraine, as at least six have already been killed. One Nepali man captured by the Ukrainian military revealed that he joined the Russian army after running out of money to cover his school fees, but was not paid the promised salary and witnessed the deaths of many friends in the war.
