UN Humanitarian Coordinator Urges Gaza Ceasefire for the Benefit of All

The UN humanitarian coordinator for the Gaza Strip, Lynn Hastings, emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire in Gaza, as the intensifying hostilities have led to the displacement of almost half of the population and exacerbated the dire health and hunger crisis. Hastings called for access to hostages and detainees, as well as humanitarian partners, and stressed the responsibility of Israel as the occupying power to protect Palestinian civilians and ensure unimpeded aid access. She also highlighted the destruction of UN facilities, the damage to infrastructure, and the increasingly fragile situation in the occupied West Bank.
