UN Report Confirms Hamas Rape and Torture of Israeli Hostages

The UN's special envoy on sexual violence in conflict reported "clear and convincing information" that women and children hostages held by Hamas were subjected to rape and sexualized torture, with "reasonable grounds" to believe ongoing abuses. The team faced limitations in meeting survivors due to trauma, relocations, and lack of trust in institutions. The report also found conflict-related sexual violence during Hamas attacks in multiple locations and allegations of sexual assault of Palestinians in Israeli detention camps. Hamas has yet to provide a list of 40 hostages for release as part of a proposed ceasefire agreement.
