Ukrainian troops are preparing to launch a counteroffensive against Russia's faltering assault on Bakhmut, according to a top ground forces commander. President Zelenskiy has called on Europe to speed up its supply of weapons, including long-range missiles, ammunition, and modern aircraft, warning that the war could last years without them. The EU has approved a plan to send 1 million artillery shells to Ukraine over the next year, and Britain has pledged to supply armor-piercing munitions containing depleted uranium. Slovakia has also handed over the first four MiG-29 jets it has pledged to Ukraine.
