Australia and Tuvalu Join Forces to Challenge China's Pacific Influence

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese signed a bilateral agreement with Tuvalu aimed at countering China's influence in the Pacific and addressing climate change. The agreement covers climate change, security, and human mobility, and designates Australia as Tuvalu's "partner of choice." Australia will create a special visa for up to 280 Tuvaluans annually and provide funds for land reclamation. The agreement also requires consultation before signing security or defense agreements with third parties.
