Ceasefire Negotiations Intensify Amid Israeli Strikes and Hezbollah Demands

A senior Israeli defense official outlined the terms of a potential ceasefire with Hezbollah, which includes a phased 60-day withdrawal of the IDF from southern Lebanon without a security perimeter. The ceasefire would involve American supervision of UNIFIL and strengthening the Lebanese army to control southern Lebanon. Hezbollah would withdraw north of the Litani River, and international efforts would prevent its resupply. Israel retains the right to act on threats within Lebanon, and UNIFIL will coordinate with the Lebanese army. The IDF aims to enforce the agreement robustly, unlike the 2006 deal.
