China-Vietnam Relations Strengthened as Xi Jinping Visits Hanoi
Chinese President Xi Jinping concluded his two-day visit to Vietnam, marking a new phase in China-Vietnam relations. The two countries pledged to enhance cooperation and build a community with a "shared future," focusing on political trust, security cooperation, practical collaboration, social foundation, multilateral coordination, and managing differences. They also agreed to boost security cooperation and intelligence sharing, address maritime differences, and establish a hotline for fisheries activities. Xi's visit aimed to strengthen bilateral ties and counter the US Indo-Pacific strategy. The two sides signed 36 cooperation agreements, including those on digital economies, railway cooperation, and green development. Vietnam's elevation of its relationship with the US and Japan prompted China's push for improved strategic ties with Vietnam.
