Chinese Fighter Jets Cross Median Line, Raising Tensions in Taiwan

Taiwan's Ministry of National Defence has warned of a possible surge in military tensions after reporting renewed Chinese military activity, including fighter jets crossing the sensitive median line of the Taiwan Strait. China, which claims Taiwan as its own territory, has been increasing military pressure on the island for the past three years. The ministry reported that Beijing had sent 24 aircraft and five warships close to Taiwan, with half of the warplanes crossing the median line. Taiwan called on Beijing to immediately stop such acts and emphasized the importance of maintaining a peaceful and stable status quo in the Taiwan Strait.
