Chinese Jets' Dangerous and Reckless Interception of Canadian Military Plane Raises Concerns

Canada's Defence Minister, Bill Blair, has condemned the interception of a Canadian military plane by Chinese fighter jets over international waters as "unacceptable, dangerous, and reckless." The incident occurred during a UN operation to enforce sanctions against North Korea. While the Chinese air force regularly interacts with planes on such missions, Blair emphasized that this particular incident put the Canadian aircraft at significant risk. Canada plans to express its concerns to China in an appropriate manner. This is not the first time Chinese military aircraft have engaged in aggressive behavior towards foreign planes, as similar incidents have been reported in the past involving both Canada and the United States.
